Efficient and scalable solutions

Efficient, scalable and centralized handling makes it possible for Nowaste to manage unpredictable growth and changing conditions.

Broad solution portfolio

Swisslog's broad portfolio has made it possible to build integrated, comprehensive solutions for companies with varied needs.

Mutual competence development

The collaboration challenges and developed both companies’ thinking on automation, IT solutions and processes, with Nowaste Logistics and Swisslog’s teams learning from one another throughout these projects.

The solution - A scalable automation ecosystem

Apart from two Vectura high-bay cranes installed in the early 2000s, the first joint project between Nowaste Logistics and Swisslog was an AutoStore solution that was installed in 2023 in one of Nowaste’s terminals in Helsingborg in southern Sweden. The AutoStore initially consisted of 55,000 bins with the capacity to be quickly expanded to at least 130,000 bins. In the longer term, the solution is designed to handle close to 300,000 bins. Currently Nowaste is planning for an expansion with up to an additional 40,000 bins. The solution is jointly controlled and monitored by Swisslog's SynQ WMS and Nowaste Logistics' proprietary warehouse management system, ASK.

The second joint project, launched in 2023, was an automated high-bay warehouse and an integrated AutoStore solution. The facility, located in Jönköping, Sweden, is designed for multiple customers who have their own warehouses and separate workflows. The warehouse has 27,000 pallet locations and 60,000 bin locations. The entire facility is modular and scalable, easily enabling future expansion. Picking and packing have been optimized by integrating a picking facade with the AutoStore solution. The automated warehouse solution is jointly controlled and monitored by SynQ WMS, AutoStore’s control system, and Nowaste Logistics' proprietary warehouse management system, ASK.

In 2024, Nowaste Logistics made the decision to centralize three manual warehouses into one automated high-bay warehouse located in Helsingborg, Sweden. Swisslog was once again chosen as the partner for the new facility. The facility is based on some of Swisslog's most competitive and well-proven technical solutions, including ten Vectura high-bay cranes, racking with 56,000 pallet locations, conveyor systems, Swisslog's SynQ WMS, and Nowaste Logistics' proprietary warehouse management system, ASK, working together to control the facility.

In 2026, Nowaste Logistics was the first AutoStore customer to pilot AutoCase, delivered by Swisslog. AutoCase is a game-changing solution that efficiently stores cartons directly within the AutoStore system upon receipt. The cartons can later either be retrieved as full cases for shipment to the customer or routed to a picking station for individual order fulfillment.

The result – increased storage capacity and efficiency through scalable automation solutions

The overall outcome from the collaboration between Nowaste Logistics and Swisslog is the timely construction and delivery of several integrated automated warehouse solutions. All solutions provide increased efficiency, capacity, quality and precision in warehouse fulfillment. The proven solutions are also built to be able to quickly scale up when needed.

That’s the beauty of no surprises.
